Hong Kong is a city of contrasts with the old and new intertwined everywhere you look. Century-old temples and gardens share the same streets with multi-storied offices, skyscrapers and residential housing. Ride in a traditional Sam Pan, visit the bustling local markets, enjoy a ride on the Peak Tram to the soaring heights of Victoria Peak, experience the Star Ferry viewing the famous skyline of Hong Kong along the way, stroll through the Tang Dynasty Nunnery and Garden and check out over 900 priceless national treasures displayed at the Hong Kong Palace Museum.
Day 1
After arriving at the Hong Kong International Airport and going through the luggage claim and Customs, you will be met at Arrival Hall B and transferred by private vehicle to your hotel, where you will spend the next three nights.
Although every effort will be made to have rooms ready before check-in at 3:00pm, this cannot be guaranteed. If you have an early arrival, you may wish to book an extra night so that your room will be available upon arrival.
The remainder of the day will be at your leisure and meals will be on your own. Feel free to simply settle in and relax or you might explore areas of Hong Kong not on the itinerary. At 8:00pm, don’t miss the spectacular 10-minute “Symphony of Lights” show around Victoria Harbor!
Note: A private van or SUV will be used to transfer couples or parties of two between the airport and the hotel. Vans hold a maximum of four pieces of large luggage (total) plus one carry-on sized bag per person. A sedan will be used for solo guests, which can hold 2 large suitcases and a carry-on. If you will have more luggage, a larger vehicle may be required for additional cost. Please advise your booking agent at least 14 days before sailing if a larger vehicle is required. Transfers are with driver only.
Day 2
After breakfast, proceed to Hong Kong Island. For the ultimate view of the surroundings, you will ride the re-vitalized tram up to Victoria Peak. The world’s steepest funicular railway, the Peak Tram opened in 1888 and has been providing spectacular panoramas ever since. As you ascend, you may notice that the steep slope causes an optical illusion in which the skyscrapers seem to be standing at impossible angles.
After pausing for photos at the peak, you will drive on to Aberdeen fishing village and board a sampan boat. While on the water, you can expect to see fishing boats, Chinese junks and villagers doing chores. The experience offers a candid look into daily life, as does your next stop—the last remaining jewelry outlet featuring handmade unique designs combining East and West influences.
Following lunch, it’s on to vibrant Stanley Market, a highly popular shopping destination for merchandise such as silk garments, Chinese costume jewelry and art. As an alternative in Stanley, you might explore Tin Hau Temple, which once stood at the edge of the sea, and the Murray House, an early 19th-Century building that was moved from its original site to the seaside.
Your next destination is the Star Ferry for a ride across Victoria Harbour viewing the beautiful skyline of the city.
Following the Star Ferry, return to your hotel for an evening at leisure and dinner on your own. A must see is the vibrant Night Market!
Day 3
After breakfast at the hotel, you will depart to visit the hidden gems in the City – the sacred Chi Lin Nunnery, a Buddhist temple complex, and the charming Nan Lian Garden of the Tang Dynasty where each stone, tree, rock or water element is landscaped after specific rules and regulations. With the backdrop of Chi Lin Nunnery, you will find the typical Hong Kong high-rise buildings making for an interesting clash of old, new, calm and hustle.
Next, drive to Tai Po and enjoy a panoramic view of the waterfront and Tolo Harbor at the Spiral Lookout Tower - a large-scale landmark established to mark the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong to China in 1997.
Visit a bustling food market that sells all kinds of fresh products, dried herbs and seafood. Next door is the century old Man Mo Temple dedicated to the gods Man (Literature) and Mo (Martial Arts). It serves as a center of worship for the community.
After sampling a Chinese dim sum lunch at a local restaurant, you will be transferred back to Kowloon with a stop the West Kowloon Cultural District. Visit the Hong Kong Palace Museum which presents over 900 priceless treasures from the Beijing Palace Museum. Many are on display for the first time in Hong Kong, while others have never been shown to the public before. The Museum also regularly presents special exhibitions featuring Chinese art and culture, as well as art and treasures from other parts of the world.
After your visit, return to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure and dinner is on your own. Your hotel Concierge can make a reservation for you at the best restaurants!
Day 4
Following breakfast and check out from the hotel, you will be transferred as a group to the cruise ship for embarkation.

Be aware that the representative may be assisting others and may not be in sight when you first exit Customs and the luggage claim area.
•Look for someone holding a sign with the cruise line logo and possibly your name. If in doubt, ask the airport staff to direct you to the meeting area for transfers or to page our representative.
•Meet and Greet and transfers are arranged for guests arriving on Day 1 of a land program or for extra nights booked through the cruise line and are arranged based on the flight details received by guests at least 14 days before sailing. Guests arriving independently before the program start date will not have a transfer included.

Uncover the refined beauty of Japan’s Kansai region on an elegant post-cruise journey through Kobe, Kyoto, and Osaka. From the prized indulgence of Kobe beef and the quiet grace of traditional gardens to Kyoto’s vermilion shrine gates, golden temples, and Osaka’s vibrant cultural landmarks, this immersive escape captures the artistry, flavor, and timeless allure of Japan in exquisite style.
DAY 1
Disembark the ship in Kobe, meet your guide and depart for the scenic slopes of Mount Rokko, a mountain range long admired for its natural beauty and once developed in the late 19th century as a retreat for foreign residents. Ascend via road and cable car to the summit, where sweeping panoramic views stretch across Kobe, Osaka Bay, and even as far as Kansai International Airport on clear days.
Next, descend back to the city of Kobe, internationally recognized for its cosmopolitan heritage as one of Japan’s earliest ports opened to foreign trade in 1868. Here, enjoy a signature Kobe beef lunch, featuring the region’s world-famous wagyu, prized for its marbling and exceptional tenderness.
In the afternoon, visit Sorakuen Garden, a traditional Japanese landscape garden originally belonging to a wealthy merchant family in the early 20th century. Stroll among serene ponds, stone bridges, and historic structures that reflect Japan’s refined garden design philosophy.
Continue to the Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum, where you will discover the centuries-old craft of sake brewing. The museum traces the history of sake production in the Nada district—Japan’s most famous sake-producing region—using traditional tools, life-sized displays, and brewing techniques passed down through generations.
Transfer to nearby Osaka and check in to your hotel. The evening is at leisure, and dinner is on your own.
Located in one of Osaka’s premier dining and shopping districts, the InterContinental Osaka offers luxury accommodation with sweeping views of the glittering city skyline. Guests can enjoy an exceptional culinary experience, including Michelin-starred Pierre, and unwind at the spa, indoor pool, jet bath, sauna, and traditional Japanese bathhouse. Additional charges apply for spa facility use.
DAY 2
After breakfast, meet your guide and depart for Kyoto, Japan’s ancient capital for over 1,000 years and the cultural heart of the nation.
Begin at Fushimi Inari Taisha, a Shinto shrine dating back to the 8th century and dedicated to Inari, the deity of rice, prosperity, and business. Walk through the seemingly endless tunnels of vermilion torii gates—each donated by individuals or companies—creating one of Japan’s most iconic spiritual landscapes.
Continue to Arashiyama, a district that has been a popular retreat since the Heian period (794–1185), when nobles would visit for its natural beauty. This picturesque area remains known for its riverside views and tranquil atmosphere. Enjoy a leisurely lunch at a carefully selected local restaurant, highlighting regional flavors and seasonal ingredients.
In the afternoon, visit Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion), originally built in the 14th century as a shogun’s retirement villa before becoming a Zen temple. Covered in gold leaf, the structure is reflected perfectly in the surrounding pond, symbolizing harmony between architecture and nature—a hallmark of Japanese aesthetics.
Return to Osaka in the early evening and enjoy dinner at your leisure.
DAY 3
Following breakfast, meet your guide and explore Osaka, a city with a rich merchant history and long known as “the nation’s kitchen” for its role as a center of trade and commerce.
Begin at the Osaka Museum of Housing and Living, where detailed reconstructions bring to life the streets and homes of the Edo period (1603–1868). Walk through recreated neighborhoods and observe how townspeople once lived, shopped, and interacted.
Continue to Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Street, Japan’s longest covered shopping arcade, stretching nearly 3 kilometers. Originally developed as an approach to nearby Tenmangu Shrine, it remains a lively hub filled with local shops, eateries, and traditional businesses.
Conclude your tour at Osaka Castle, first built in the late 16th century by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, one of Japan’s great unifiers. The castle played a pivotal role in the country’s feudal history. Today, its impressive structure, surrounded by massive stone walls and moats, stands as a symbol of Osaka’s historical importance.
Return to your hotel in the afternoon. The remainder of the day is at leisure with lunch and dinner on your own.
DAY 4
Enjoy the breakfast at your hotel before checking out and transferring to Kansai or Itami International Airport. Your transfer time will be arranged according to the flight details provided and confirmed during the program. If you have a late departure, luggage storage will be available at the hotel. Please note that official hotel check-out time is 11:00am.
Note: Couples or pairs will be transferred by private van or SUV (max 4 large bags total plus 1 carry-on per person); solo guests will use a sedan (2 large suitcases plus a carry-on). •This program begins in Kyoto where guests disembark the ship and ends in Tokyo. Departure flights must be booked out of Tokyo’s Narita or Haneda International Airports.
DAY 1
Upon disembarkation in Kobe, you will be met at the port and driven into Kyoto, Japan’s ancient imperial capital, where centuries of courtly elegance, sacred traditions, and exquisite design still shape the rhythm of daily life.
Your first visit is at Heian Jingu Shrine, a striking celebration of Kyoto’s imperial heritage. Announced by one of Japan’s largest vermilion torii gates, the shrine’s stately courtyards and brilliantly colored buildings evoke the grandeur of the Heian court. Built in 1895 as a partial replica of the ancient imperial palace, it honors the emperors who mark the beginning and end of Kyoto’s long reign as the nation’s capital. Behind the main sanctuary lie celebrated landscape gardens, where ponds, graceful bridges, and seasonal blooms offer a serene counterpoint to the shrine’s monumental architecture.
The journey continues to Nijo Castle, the storied Kyoto residence of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Edo period. Completed in the early 17th century and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the castle is renowned for its imposing stone walls, encircling moats, and refined palace interiors that once projected the authority of the shogunate. The grounds unfold through defensive enclosures and beautifully composed gardens, while the palace itself is celebrated for its artistry, elegant woodwork, and the atmosphere of ceremonial power that still lingers within its historic precincts.
After lunch continue to Kinkakuji, Kyoto’s celebrated Golden Pavilion. Set beside the still waters of Kyoko-chi, or Mirror Pond, the three-story pavilion appears to float within a meticulously composed garden landscape, its upper two floors shimmering in gold leaf. Originally created as the retirement villa of shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu before becoming a Zen temple in 1408, the structure embodies three distinct architectural styles, each reflecting a different facet of Japanese courtly, warrior, and Zen aesthetics. Few sights in Kyoto are more iconic than the luminous reflection of the pavilion cast across the pond against a backdrop of pines, stone, and seasonal color.
Later, check in at your hotel in Kyoto and enjoy the evening at leisure. Dinner is on your own, offering the perfect opportunity to savor the city’s refined culinary scene at your own pace.
Note: If you require two beds, please be sure to request this at the time of booking.
DAY 2
After breakfast at the hotel, meet your guide in the lobby and transfer to Tokyo aboard the celebrated JR bullet train, a sleek symbol of Japan’s modern precision. Following lunch at a local restaurant, begin discovering the capital’s dynamic blend of innovation, glamour, and urban spectacle.
Your afternoon features Tokyo Tower, the city’s iconic red-and-white landmark rising 333 meters above the skyline. From its observation levels, sweeping vistas stretch across the metropolis, revealing a mesmerizing patchwork of neighborhoods, parks, and waterways, and on clear days even distant Mount Fuji. Long a symbol of postwar Tokyo, the tower offers a classic perspective on the vast energy and ambition of the capital.
From there, continue to Ginza, Tokyo’s most polished enclave of luxury shopping, fine dining, and contemporary design. Along elegant Chuo-dori and the district’s stylish side streets, international fashion houses, storied department stores, and architecturally striking flagship boutiques create a scene of cosmopolitan sophistication. Ginza is as much about atmosphere as it is about shopping—an urban showcase where impeccable service, gleaming facades, and refined tastes converge.
Afterward, transfer to your hotel for check-in. The balance of the evening is yours to enjoy at leisure, with dinner on your own.
Perfectly positioned just steps from Ebisu Station, the hotel offers effortless access to Shibuya, one of Tokyo’s most vibrant and stylish districts.
Your Executive Room includes access to the Westin Club, where sweeping views of Tokyo are paired with a thoughtful collection of exclusive privileges, including complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages (5:30–7:30pm), workstations, and concierge service.
Note: Guests should bring one smaller sized suitcase with them on the bullet train and a carry-on size bag. Before departing the hotel in the morning, kindly place any excess luggage not accompanying you on the Bullet Train in the hallway outside your door by 7:30am. It will be transferred to your hotel on Day 3. Make sure luggage is labeled with your name and suite number on the ship. Don’t forget to take any valuables, medications and documents with you.
DAY 3
Following breakfast at your hotel, visit Tsukiji Hongwanji, one of Tokyo’s most distinctive Buddhist temples. Unlike the wooden temple architecture often associated with Japan, this remarkable sanctuary—rebuilt in 1934—draws inspiration from ancient Buddhist forms seen across India and Asia, with lotus motifs, carved animal figures, stained glass, and a sweeping, sculptural roofline. Inside, the atmosphere is unexpectedly serene and grand, blending spiritual calm with an almost cinematic sense of scale.
After the temple visit, continue to the famed Tsukiji Outer Market, where Tokyo’s culinary heartbeat is on full display. This lively maze of seafood stalls, specialty purveyors, and traditional shops offers an authentic introduction to Japanese food culture, from glistening cuts of tuna and seasonal shellfish to artisanal ingredients and beloved local delicacies. Once the retail companion to the world-famous fish market, Tsukiji remains one of the city’s most flavorful and atmospheric destinations.
Return to your hotel afterward. The remainder of the day is at your leisure, with lunch and dinner on your own.
Special Note:
There are about 30 steps leading to the hall of Amida Buddha but there is a ramp just to the left of the main stairs. The main hall is a no-photo zone, as this temple is aiming to create a meditative, undistracted space for prayer and reflection.
DAY 4
Savor breakfast at your hotel before checking out and transferring by private vehicle to either Narita or Haneda International Airports in Tokyo for your onward journey, taking with you memories of a journey that pairs Kyoto’s imperial grace with Tokyo’s vibrant modernity.
Your transfer time will be based on the flight details provided and relayed while you are on the program. Should you have a late departing flight, luggage storage will be available at the hotel. Guests must check out by 12:00pm at the latest.
Couples or pairs will be transferred by private van or SUV (max 4 large bags total plus 1 carry-on per person); solo guests will use a sedan (2 large suitcases plus a carry-on). Extra luggage may require a larger vehicle at additional cost—notify your RSSC booking agent at least 14 days before sailing with this information. Transfers include a driver only.
