    Explore the history, architecture and people of Croatia during this scenic and memorable tour along the Dalmatian Coast.

    Departing from the pier, you'll first embark on a scenic drive to Trogir.Situated on a small island nestled between the mainland and the larger island of Ciovo, Dalmatia is connected to the mainland by a bridge.With the exception of its green parks, the entire island is filled with spectacular stone houses, palaces, churches, monasteries, towers, walls, and more.Trogir largely resembles an open-air museum, and your guided walking tour through its narrow streets will offer you a unique insight into daily life here centuries ago.

    During your time in Trogir, a visit will be made to the town's main attraction, the Cathedral of St. Lawrence.This 13th-century building is probably the finest example of Sacral architecture in Croatia, and dominates the entire town.The cathedral's unusual construction features three naves and three semi-circular apses, and its world-renowned main portal was carved by a local artist, Radovan, in the 13th century.Additional sites of interest include the Town Loggia, Town Hall, Cipiko Palace and more.At the conclusion of the guided tour, free time will be provided to do some further exploration on your own.

    Continuing on from Trogir, you'll travel inland to the Primosten area for a visit to Burni, a picturesque Dalmatian village.En route, you will pass by interesting landscapes and marvel at how the people of this area have transformed this rocky terrain into a fertile, hospitable oasis.Upon arrival, you will explore Burni's inhabitants and traditions during visits to village homes, some of which are several-hundred years old.A stop will then be made for a refreshing respite in the shade of surrounding trees.Your host, clad in national dress, will serve you a traditional snack of smoked ham and cheese and homemade wine, while entertaining you with local songs and music.

    Leaving Burni, you will proceed to your final stop, the town of Sibenik.Founded by Croats more than a thousand years ago, Sibenik's first records date back to the year 1066 A.D. Sibenik holds an important place in Croatia's construction heritage; which can readily be observed through the town's well-preserved historical core, and numerous architectural accomplishments of its monuments.Highlights to be seen during your guided walking tour through Sibenik's narrow stone streets, or kalas, include ancient fortresses, the City Hall, a commercial and crafts center, the Gothic-Renaissance-styled Cathedral of St. Jacob, one of Dalmatia's finest Sacral monuments, and numerous churches scattered around the town and its surrounding areas.

    Re-joining your coach, you'll journey beyond the city, driving along the splendid coastline before turning inland and traveling via a mountain road to Omis, a small town on the estuary of the Cetina River.This swift mountain river carves its way through scenic canyons on its path to reach the sea.There, in the historical center of the shipyards, you will embark small boats and enjoy a picturesque sail through the Cetina river canyon to reach the Radmanove Mlinice restaurant.Upon arrival, you'll be able to relax in the restaurant's warm atmosphere as you are treated to a tasty lunch of local specialties, including some local wine.

    Following lunch, it's a return to Split by coach where your tour concludes at the pier.

    Depart the pier for the drive through the Karst Sibenik hinterland en route to the Krka National Park.One of Croatia's seven national parks, Krka encompasses 55 square miles, and is noted for its geological, geomorphologic, hydrological, biological, and landscape elements.The Krka River is also a distinctive natural phenomenon due to its specific biocenosis and formation of gypsum barriers.The entire area is rich with endemic species of vegetation, birds and fish.As a result of rigid conservation laws, this extraordinary area has been preserved in its original form.

    Upon arrival, you will take a guided tour of Krka National Park.The highlight of your tour will be a visit to the wonderful Skradinski Buk Waterfalls, which cascade over 17 natural barriers.The highest fall is 146 feet in height; Europe's highest gypsum barrier.Above the falls, a large plateau offers spectacular panoramic views and photo opportunities.Depending upon availability, you may also be able view a small ethnological exhibition, and an old grinding mill that is still in operation to this day.If you wish, some free time is provided for you to further explore the immediate area around the falls via walking paths.

    Explore two filming locations for “Game of Thrones” where pivotal scenes were shot depicting the Meereen slave rebellion and the dungeon that held fire-breathing dragons.

    After departing from the pier, you will enjoy a scenic drive inland to Klis, an ancient village strategically located in a mountain pass.The village is dominated by a fortress that sits atop a jagged crag with views of the sea on one side and mountains on the other.

    It is a spectacular setting, especially for fans of the TV series “Game of Thrones,” which is based on George R. R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” fantasy novels.In the show, the fortress served as the location for the city of Meereen.Here, Daenerys Targaryen (the Mother of Dragons) freed the slaves in Season Four.

    In real life, the fortress, whose history dates to the 7th century, has been occupied by numerous Croatian rulers.Despite its seemingly impenetrable appearance, the fortress has been overtaken repeatedly, by the likes of the Ottomans, Venetians and Austrians.

    After an enlightening exploration of the fortress, you will return to Split to visit its extraordinary Diocletian Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Built at the turn of the 4th century for Roman emperor Diocletian’s retirement, the palace is a sprawling complex of temples, cathedrals and residences facing the sea.

    Several scenes for “Game of Thrones” were shot here, most notably the ones where Daenerys’ dragons are chained in the dungeon.After visiting, you will return to the pier.
