Porto Empedocle was named after the philosopher of the same name and is home to some of the finest remains of temples outside of Greece. At the Valley of the Temples you may also see the ruins of necropolises, houses and streets. This region is also famous for being the birthplace of famed Sicilian author Andrea Camilleri. In the city center you will find a statue dedicated to one of the authors famed fictional characters, Salvo Montalbano. Stroll down Via Roma to shop at the boutique stores and enjoy an espresso at one of the charming cafés.
