This "Spotlight on Cuisine Exclusive" tour is accompanied by the Spotlight Guest Chef Darren McGrady. You'll wander through the open-air seaside market in Nice, known for elegant flowers, photo-perfect fruit and vegetable stalls, and quaint cafes. Later, drive to a medieval village on the sea for an exquisite lunch that includes a signed menu and photo-opportunity with the Chef at the restaurant, Chateau Eza.
Meet your Chef Host and begin your day with a stunning drive southwest along the lower Corniche, following the Cote D'Azur coastline of the radiant French Riviera. You'll pass a number of picturesque resorts, villages and parks before arriving in Nice, which overlooks the beautiful Bay of Angels. It's here in the Old Town where you'll experience the vibrancy of the market at the heart of the Cours Saleya, a wide pedestrianized street.
Every sense is engaged here; you'll see stands brimming with the bright colors of seasonal vegetables, smell the hand-picked flowers beautifully arranged, and hear the locals speaking French as they purchase bread and produce for tonight's dinner. You’ll have free time to shop, enjoy a coffee in one of the outdoor cafés lining the marketplace, or dip your toes in the Mediterranean Sea. Your Chef will be circulating and shopping, available to help you with your questions and point out favorite vendors for local olive oils, confections, Herbs d' Provence and collectibles.
Continuing on, you'll re-board your coach and drive to nearby Eze, a medieval village perched on a craggy peak above the Mediterranean. Following a brief (but rather strenuous), guided walk up Eze's narrow cobbled streets, you'll arrive at the Château Eza, a spectacular boutique hotel with an equally impressive restaurant. Dine here in understated luxury while overlooking the fabulous French Riviera. Your menu has been developed by our Executive Chef Kelly, and each course will be explained with an eye toward the ingredients and cooking techniques. A choice of luncheon wines will be offered, and you are encouraged to try the local rosé wine from the region of Provence - a summertime favorite with locals and wine aficionados.
Following lunch, you'll make your way back to the ship in Monte Carlo, traveling via the middle Corniche, a route that affords expansive views of the northern mountains. An unforgettable and memorable day spent in one of the world’s most beautiful settings for lunch. Truly a tour for life’s ‘bucket list’!

Enjoy a scenic drive towards the medieval village of Eze, perched on a rock like an eagle’s nest. Follow your guide on the narrow streets up to the exotic garden located at the very top of the village where you will enjoy breath taking views over the coast and Mediterranean Sea. The garden features numerous species of succulent plants and xerophytes from all the continents. A city of art and nature, famous for the architectural styles, the geographer Elysée Reclus referred to Menton as the “Pearl of France”. After your walking tour you can enjoy soe free time to stroll the charming streets or visit the Jean Cocteau Museum (at your own additional expense) before boarding your bus back to your ship.
