Land Programs & Hotels

  • Explore historical and modern landmarks in Tokyo and then travel south to Hakone for a lake cruise in the shadow of Mt. Fuji and an enlightening visit to a meticulously reconstructed 15th Century castle.

NOTE: In general, hotel rooms in Japan are smaller than hotel rooms elsewhere around the world. In Japanese culture, standard typical bedding is two twin beds. Although every effort will be made to obtain rooms with one bed for couples, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you require two beds, kindly make sure to advise this when booking your program. Also, please note that guests on group bookings are not eligible to earn “Hilton Honors Points” or receive Hilton Honors benefits.

    DAY 1

Upon arrival at either the Narita or Haneda International Airports in Tokyo, you will be met at the exit of the Custom’s area. Transfer to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at your leisure. Meals are on your own.

Please note that check-in time at the hotel is at 4:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have the rooms available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you have a very early morning arrival you may wish to book an extra night so that your room is available when you arrive.

    DAY 2

After checking out of the hotel, you will enjoy a half-day tour of Tokyo starting with a visit to the Meiji Jingu Shinto Shrine. Built to venerate Emperor Meiji, who reigned from 1852-1912, it is the largest and most visited shrine in Japan, in part because of its beautiful park-like setting and the fact that Meiji is revered as Japan’s first modern emperor.

Then it’s on to Tokyo Tower, Japan’s second highest structure, which was built in 1958 as a symbol of Japan’s rebirth. After riding an elevator to the nearly 500-foot-high Grand Observation Platform, you will be treated to an astounding view of the city. If the sky is clear, you can see Mt. Fuji.

Following lunch at a local restaurant, you will be transferred to your Odawara hotel to relax at your leisure. A bountiful buffet dinner will be served at the hotel. However, the remainder of the day is yours to enjoy as you please before you spend the evening at the hotel.

    DAY 3

Today, you will visit Hakone, a part of the Fuji National Park. Upon arriving at Sounzan, you will board the Ropeway, an aerial tram that affords you wonderful views of the Owakudani Valley. In time, you will stop at Lake Ashi for a scenic cruise. The crystal-clear lake was formed about 3,000 years ago in the caldera left after the volcanic eruption of Mount Hakone. If the conditions are ideal, as they often are, you will see Mt. Fuji and its inverted reflection on the water.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. On the return to the hotel, you will stop at Odawara Castle, which was originally built in the mid-15th Century. The structure was destroyed in the latter half of the 19th century when political power changed from the Edo shogunate to the Meiji government, and the castle was condemned as the symbol of the samurai.

The castle that now stands is a reconstruction from 1960. However, the moat and stone walls are original. The castle is a three-tiered, five-storied donjon, and its top floor is an observatory.

A traditional Japanese Kaiseki (multi course) dinner will be served at your hotel this evening.

    DAY 4

After checking out of the hotel, you will be transferred to cruise terminal where you will embark the ship.

Land Program Details Step by Step

•The order of sites visited may vary to avoid congestion. Program times are approximate, given here for general reference purposes and subject to change.

•Itineraries with the up-to-date details will be issued when you are emailed your final cruise documents 21 days prior to sailing. You will then receive a final itinerary from our ground operator with a Welcome Letter upon arrival or at your hotel. Please review the letter and your final itinerary carefully for further amendments.

•The hotels used for your land program will be the hotels listed in this document unless you have been advised otherwise in advance of the land program start date.

•Guests failing to arrive on Day 1 of a scheduled land program will be considered a no-show and their hotel space released.

    Extra Nights

•All extra nights booked through the cruise line are confirmed at the hotel that is used on the FIRST NIGHT of your land program

•If you book extra nights through the cruise line, you will be met as per the flight details provided and transferred to your hotel. Check-in is 4:00pm (subject to change). Meals other than breakfast, as well as activities, are on your own until day 2 of the program.

•If you have an early-arriving flight, you may wish to book an extra night as your room will not be ready for occupation until approximately 4:00pm.

•If you book extra nights on your own, transfers are not included.

    DAY 1

Arrive at either the Narita or Haneda International Airports in Tokyo.

You are met near the exit of the Customs area and transferred to your hotel.

The afternoon and the evening at your leisure.

Check in time at your hotel is 4:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have rooms available sooner, this cannot be guaranteed.

Meals are on your own today

Overnight at Hilton Tokyo or similar hotel

    Meet and Greet and transfers

•Final cruise documents will be emailed 21 days prior to sailing. The local ground agent’s telephone number will be on page 1, if you can’t locate the meet-and-greet representative upon arrival. Be aware that the representative may be assisting others and may not be in sight when you first exit Customs and the luggage claim area.

•Look for someone holding a sign with the cruise line logo and possibly your name. If in doubt, ask the airport staff to direct you to the meeting area for transfers or to page our representative.

•Meet and Greet and transfers are arranged for guests arriving on Day 1 of a land program or for extra nights booked through the cruise line and are arranged based on the flight details received by guests at least 14 days before sailing. Guests arriving independently before the program start date will not have a transfer included.

•If we have not received your flight details or your flights have changed, and the Destination Services Land Team has not been notified, then a transfer cannot be provided, and guests will be responsible for getting to the land program hotel at their own expense. Please immediately contact our Reservations Department for any flight changes before departure.

    DAY 1

Upon arrival at either the Narita or Haneda International Airports in Tokyo, you will be met at the exit of the Custom’s area. Transfer to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at your leisure. Meals are on your own.

Please note that check in time at the hotel is at 4:00pm.

Although every effort will be made to have the rooms available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you have a very early morning arrival you may wish to book an extra night so that your room is available when you arrive.

Also, please note that guests on group bookings such as this program, are not eligible to earn “Hilton Honors Points” or receive Hilton Honors benefits.

    DAY 2

Following breakfast at the hotel, depart on a half-day tour of the city.

Visit the Tokyo National Museum established 1872, it is one of the oldest museums in Japan. The Museum Collection comprises art and archaeological objects of Asia, focusing on Japan. There are a total of approximately 120,000 objects of which 89 are National Treasures and 649 Important Cultural Properties.

Continue to the Ginza area, one of the most luxurious shopping districts in the world. The streets in Ginza are lined with numerous departments stores, boutiques, restaurants, and bars. Upon arrival you will enjoy some free time to browse, shop or perhaps visit some of the free galleries.

You can choose to either remain in Ginza and make your own way back to the hotel or return with the group.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure with lunch and dinner on your own.

    DAY 3

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will begin yet another half-day tour of Tokyo, allowing you to see the city from a different perspective.

You will first journey to the Asakusa area – part of Tokyo’s Old Town. Visit the Asakusa Senso-ji Temple, which was founded in the early 7th century. Weather permitting, you will enter through a gate decorated with a huge red paper lantern to view the shrine. The architecture is stunning, as this temple is the country’s oldest and one of the most revered. One of the highlights is a walk down Nakamise-dori, known as the “Street of Inside Shops,” an alley lined with vendors selling traditional food, souvenirs, and handmade crafts.

You will have a photo stop at the Imperial Palace Plaza (no interior visit), where Japan’s Emperor and Empress reside. Surrounded by a moat, the palace was formerly known as Edo Castle, and samurai warriors lived there in the 17th through 19th centuries. In the large plaza in front of the palace, you can view the famed Nijubashi—two bridges that form an entrance to the inner palace grounds. The stone bridge in front is called Meganebashi (Eyeglass Bridge) for its looks.

You can choose to either remain in the area and make your own way back to the hotel or return with the group.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure with lunch and dinner on your own.

    DAY 4

After breakfast and check-out, you will visit Meiji Shrine. Dedicated to the Emperor Meiji, the father of modern Japan, the beautiful shrine stands in a dense forest glade of some 120,000 trees of 365 different species, at the very heart of Tokyo. The setting symbolizes the separation of the spiritual from the world. You enter the shrine through twin 40-feet tall Torii gates, one of the largest in all Japan. This shrine is a popular place for traditional Japanese weddings, if you are lucky, you might get to see one.

From the peaceful green oasis surrounding Meiji Shrine you will continue to the beautiful Hamarikyu Garden, an Edo Period Japanese garden surrounded by the Shiodome district’s futuristic skyscrapers. This provides a great example of how Japan is the land of contrasts. The garden was originally built as a feudal lord's Tokyo residence and duck hunting grounds during the Edo Period but later served as a strolling garden and as an Imperial detached palace before eventually being opened to the public in its current form.

Continue to the modern Odaiba area. When the sprawling metropolis, that is Tokyo nowadays, ran out of space, they inevitably turned toward the sea. Odaiba is a man-made island created by massive landfills, featuring many hypermodern and strange buildings memorably described as the result of a Pre-schooler’s architecture class. You will have the chance to enjoy it from above, during a visit to an observation deck, located in one of Odaiba’s most iconic buildings: the headquarters of Fuji Television.

It is then on to the cruise ship terminal for embarkation.

    NOTE:

The day the Tokyo National Museum and the Odaiba Observation deck are visited could vary, as both are closed on Mondays.

As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious center since its foundation – first Hindu, dedicated to the god Vishnu, then Buddhist. The temple has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag and is the country's prime attraction for visitors.

    Please also note:

-There is extensive walking at the temple sites, with steps at Bayon and Angkor Wat therefore this program is not recommended for guests with mobility restrictions including use of a wheelchair or walker

Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines on internal flights per airline regulations (subject to change as each airline has their own regulations)

3.CPAP Machine to be used during flight – same as above + a doctor’s note is required mentioning the need to use the machine during flight.

*Guests are required to bring with them any details from the manufacturer regarding the CPAP specifications. While most modern CPAP machines are FAA-approved for in-flight use, having a copy of your manufacturer’s FAA-approval status will help to quickly clear any confusion that may arise.

    * Failure to provide the above details in a timely manner may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which Regent Seven Seas Cruises nor our local ground operator will be responsible for.

*Some hotels do not provide distilled water. While we can certainly request this for you, we cannot guarantee that it will be available. If received in a timely manner, at least 95 days before sailing, requests will be sent on the final manifest that our ground operators and hotels receive. We highly recommend packing your own supply especially on programs that travel to more remote locations in order to avoid not having it. Please keep in mind the rule for liquids in carry-on bags. Many hotels will charge for distilled water. If there is a fee, this will be added to your hotel incidental account to be paid at check-out. Fees will vary from hotel to hotel.

    DAY 1 – December 7, 2026

Following lunch onboard the ship, you’ll disembark and meet your Tour Director on the pier.

About an hour away from Darwin, you will meet a local Aboriginal family and enjoy an authentic hands-on, informative, and educational tour. It’s a unique cultural immersion allowing you to gain an understanding of aboriginal ways of life that are still used today. Learn of their ceremonies, the sounds of the didgeridoo, of their art, weaving, hunting and gathering techniques, of the tools they use and even try your hand at spear throwing.

Following this cultural experience, make your way to Kakadu National Park

Covering more than 20,000 square kilometers, the park is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The combination of mangrove fringed coastal areas, expansive flood plains, lowland hills, and open woodland and forest habitats, make Kakadu one of the most diverse landscapes you’ll ever experience. It’s home to a myriad of animals, hundreds of bird species and thousands of different insects and plants.

You’ll arrive at the Cooinda Lodge Hotel, a modest retreat within the park, where you can settle in before dinner at the hotel restaurant. The rest of the evening is yours to relax and enjoy the local surrounds. On site you will find a general store, a restaurant, bar, two swimming pools and a cultural center.

Your Yellow Water Villa (similar to a safari-style tent) is nestled deep within the World Heritage Listed Kakadu National Park and situated on the edge of the renowned Yellow Water Billabong. Elevated on stilts high amongst the treetops, you will be completely immersed in this wonderland of nature of the Australian bush. Each room has 1 x King size bed, 2 x Day Lounges (sitting area by day, air-conditioning, table and chairs, ensuite bathroom with walk in shower, large deck overlooking the bush with an outdoor bathtub and outdoor dining table. Note: There is a steep stairway (approx. 8 steps) to access the villa.

    DAY 2 – December 8, 2026

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel before you depart for Marrawuddi Art Gallery, an Aboriginal art gallery and community hub in Kakadu National Park. You will find here a variety of Aboriginal art, including paintings, bark paintings, woven baskets, and dilly bags created by artists from across Kakadu and West Arnhem Land.

Continue to Ubirr, where you’ll climb up through the ancient Aboriginal rock art galleries, believed to be 20,000 years old, to the lookout for a spectacular view over the surrounding wetlands. You’ll be mesmerized as you wander around the Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) Rock art site. It has provided shelter to the indigenous people for many thousands of years, and while taking shelter, the rock evolved into a canvas that illustrates the traditional owner's very deep spiritual culture.

Throughout your Kakadu visit, you’ll have the opportunity to see many different forms of Aboriginal rock art paintings. The Bininj people are the traditional custodians of Kakadu and now you’ll visit the Warradjan Cultural Center where you will be introduced to their way of life.

Following your tour around the Kakadu National Park, you’ll return to the hotel to freshen up before dinner later in the evening.

    DAY 3 – December 9, 2026

Enjoy breakfast in the hotel before you check out and prepare for departure. The first activity of the day is a cruise on Yellow Water Billabong, Kakadu’s most famous wetland. The picturesque yellow waters are home to thousands of saltwater crocodiles and up to 60 species of colorful birdlife.

Following the cruise, travel to Katherine, the third largest town in the Northern Territory. There will be a couple of stops before arriving in Katherine, your first being a lunch stop in Pine Creek, a former mining town and treasure trove of heritage bush buildings.

Next, you’ll venture down the road stopping at Leliyn (Edith Falls). The paperbark and pandanus fringed natural pool at the base of the falls is suitable for swimming throughout most of the year (conditions permitting). If you’re not up for a swim, you can at least sit at the water’s edge and dip your legs in the natural pool to cool off.

Next, you’ll make your way to Katherine Gorge where you’ll check into Cicada Lodge, located right in Nitmiluk National Park. Relax and enjoy the native bushland before dinner is served in the hotel restaurant.

Your comfortable room offers traditional and modern comforts in one of the world’s most beautiful locations. Rooms include king or twin beds, air-conditioning, balcony and a mini fridge. On site you will find two swimming pools, a lounge, restaurant and mini bar.

    DAY 4 – December 10, 2026

Enjoy breakfast in the hotel restaurant before checking out.

Depart for a Nitnit Gorge Tour. The Gorge is one of the most visited sites in Australia’s Top End. It is a stunning network of thirteen gorges carved from billion-year-old sandstone that are home to many rapids and falls, flowing from the Katherine River.

The cruise will put you at the heart of Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge among freshwater crocodiles, wonderful birdlife and some of the most amazing scenery the Northern Territory has to offer. Afterwards you will have a brief time to look through the Nitmiluk Visitor Centre before departing for Darwin.

As you make your way back to Darwin, you will have several comfort stops along the way including a lunch stop.

Begin your adventure with a morning tea served once you board, setting the perfect tone for what lies ahead. The first stop will be a stunning reef location where you will have the opportunity to explore the vibrant underwater world with snorkeling. Immerse yourself in the beauty of this natural wonderland before enjoying a hot and cold buffet lunch.

While snorkeling, don't forget to keep an eye out for the elusive batfish, gracefully gliding among the coral formations.

Proceed to a second spectacular location teeming with marine life where you can continue your snorkeling adventure or simply relax and take in the stunning surroundings. Be sure to keep an eye out for colorful fish, graceful rays, and perhaps even a curious turtle. Throughout the day, the crew will offer informative talks about the reef, enhancing your experience. All necessary equipment and instruction will be provided to ensure a safe and enjoyable time for everyone.

Note: Great Barrier Reef tour is not exclusive and will include other guests visiting Cairns. Reef locations are subject to change based upon water clarity and visibility. Guests should bring a towel and you are welcome to bring your own snorkel gear, or it will be provided for you.

As the day concludes, you will return to Cairns and transfer back to the hotel. You will have time to freshen up before the evening plans. DAY 1 - November 19, 2026

Disembark the ship in Singapore and meet your guide before departing on a brief sightseeing tour of the city en route to the airport.

Stop to view Merlion Park, a prominent symbol of Singapore representing the city’s origins as a fishing village and its transformation into a modern metropolis. This mythical creature has the head of a lion and the body of a fish. The lion head symbolizes Singapore's original name, Singapura, which means "Lion City" in Malay, while the fish body represents its humble beginnings as a fishing village.

Then, transfer to Singapore’s Changi Airport for a flight to Bangkok. Upon arrival a local guide will be waiting in the arrivals to meet you for your transfer to your city-based hotel.

After check-in, the remainder of the day is at your leisure with meals on your own.

You’ll find that the Shangri-La Bangkok is an enchanting riverside retreat located right in the heart of the vibrant city of Bangkok. The hotel has eight restaurants and lounges for you to choose from or you may wish to consult with the hotel Concierge for dinner suggestions within the city.

    Day 2 – November 20, 2026

Strategically positioned on an island between three rivers, the city of Ayutthaya rose to prosperity during the 14th to 18th centuries when the Siamese kingdom flourished through trade between the East and West. Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, the former capital city contains several significant archaeological treasures, including the remains of Buddhist monasteries, temples and palaces.

This morning you will visit the landscaped gardens and the iconic floating pavilion of Bang Pa-In, the Summer Palace and former retreat for Thai kings. Also explore the remains of red brick temples in the old town as well as a Buddha head wrapped inside the roots of a tree at Wat Mahathat.

Enjoy a visit to a local café where you can try a local pancake-like treat made by local vendors and then discover the former Grand Palace.

Sit down for a leisurely lunch with views of nearby temples and river life before continuing to another towering old chedi (bell shaped stupa) that inspired the design of many temples in Bangkok.

Later in the day, transfer to your overnight hotel. The iuDia Hotel is considered a boutique property offering a unique experience with views of the ancient ruins of the Ayutthaya Historical Park. The hotel blends traditional Thai architecture with modern comforts, giving it a distinct charm and sense of place.

Following dinner at the hotel, the evening is at your leisure.

    Day 3 – November 20, 2026

After breakfast, you will visit Wat Phanan Cheoeng, one of the city’s oldest temples, which features a large Buddha statue. Behind the temple is a small 18th-century shrine built to honor a Chinese princess with a tragic story.

Then visit Wat Chaiwatthanaram: A magnificent Buddhist temple in Ayutthaya situated on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. A number of temples throughout Thailand take their design from this building, an eye-catching arrangement which includes a raised platform and eight towering chedis, or chapels.

Also visit one of many Roti Sai Mai stores which can be found in Ayutthaya. Roti Sai Mai which means sweet angel hair, is a colorful and flavorful dessert in which cotton candy is wrapped in soft, paper-thin, Pandan-flavored crepes. It has become Ayutthaya’s signature dessert snack. Some people may even say that no visit to Ayutthaya is complete without eating some Roti Sai Mai! During this stop, walk through the shop, down the stairs and under the base of the store to see how the roti sai mai is prepared from scratch. See the huge caldrons of palm oil and sugar and how bags of sai mai are packed and ready to be sold. Also see the countless benches where the sai mai are prepared and hand pulled.

One of the highlights of the day will be a cruise along the Chao Phraya River on the Grand Pearl. Enjoy a buffet lunch featuring a variety of Thai and Western dishes as you cruise along the river back to Bangkok. Relax and take in the riverside lifestyle along the way.

Upon arrival at the Sri Phra Ya shopping center Pier, transfer to the port of Laem Chabang where you will re-board the ship.

Failure to have the required and correct documents ahead of time could result in denial of travel and guests will have to pay for any expenses incurred in order to not proceed with the program or guests may need to purchase new flight tickets at their own cost.

The above information is subject to change and serves as a guide only. We would like to take this opportunity to remind all of our guests that it is the ultimate and sole responsibility of the guest to ensure they meet the entry requirements for each destination.

If traveling internationally, the countries you are flying to and/ or connecting through may have different document requirements and as such we encourage you to visit the government and airport websites of every country you will be traveling to throughout the journey to familiarize yourself with their requirements for your nationality.
