Settle in for an immensely panoramic drive along La Coruña’s beautiful coastline with stops to snap photos and to enjoy a beer-and-cheese pairing. If you look at the peninsula directly across the cove, you will see the Tower of Hercules, a still-operational lighthouse whose foundation dates to Roman times. The beacon is so impressive that UNESCO deemed it a World Heritage site. Besides scenic beauty, La Coruña boasts Spain’s first beer museum, which is entirely devoted to Estrella Galicia beer. As you browse the MEGA Museum, you might pause at the virtual-reality exhibits that depict the history of beer, the Estrella brewing process and the ingredients that give the various beers their unique flavors. You will sample a flight of five of those brews thoughtfully paired with local cheeses.
