Ride through downtown Oslo in the early evening in the comfort of an open, horse-drawn carriage that offers uninterrupted views of the city. The capital will be beautifully illuminated and simply aglow as you travel behind a team of horses as they clip-clop their way along the cobbled streets. The experience is a wonderfully nostalgic way to see Oslo, which looks all the more atmospheric at night. While passing through the heart of the city, you will view landmarks such the 19th-century Royal Palace – just one of the royal family’s homes – and medieval Akershus Castle, where the rulers of Norway once lived, protected by the fortress’ thick earth-and-stone walls. You will also see the distinctive city hall, whose towering carillon with 49 bells plays music every evening. The play list ranges from Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg’s “Watchman’s Song” to “Summer Nights” from the musical “Grease.”
