Discover the many Middle Age charms of Rostock on a delightful guided walk that visits key town landmarks, then takes you to a church tower high above them all. The coach transfer into town provides views of this ancient Hanseatic city’s harbor suburbs, before you embark on your leisurely stroll in the city center. Among the diverse highlights seen along your route are the University of Rostock, the grounds of Holy Cross Convent, the vibrant shopping mile known as Kropelin Street, the old library and the evocatively playful Fountain of Joy. At picturesque New Market Square, you’ll have a chance to admire Rostock’s very pink Town Hall and St. Mary’s Church, a true Gothic stunner. Some free time in town will also allow you to make some of your own discoveries before reboarding the coach for the short drive to St. Peter’s Church, considered oldest of the town’s three principal churches. Its rebuilt 360-foot tower is equipped with a modern elevator for a smooth ride up to an observation level that offers spectacular bird’s-eye views over all of Rostock. A champagne reception awaits you here and your excursion ends with an interesting studio demonstration of antiquated blueprinting.
