Land Programs & Hotels

  • Explore Qatar’s capital of Doha – a harmonious mix of modern and traditional attractions – enjoy a dinner cruise on a wooden dhow and race through the surrounding desert in a 4x4 vehicle.

    DAY 1

After arriving at the Doha International Airport (DOH), you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Check-in is 3:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have rooms available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you have an early flight, you may wish to book an extra night to guarantee your room upon arrival.

The remainder of the day will be at your leisure with meals on your own.

    DAY 2

After breakfast at the hotel, you will travel into the surrounding desert in an air-conditioned 4x4 vehicle. To improve traction in the deep sand, the tires of the vehicle will be deflated. Then, off you will go, racing through the desert dunes in an exhilarating activity known as dune bashing. The driver is highly experienced at negotiating the shifting sands at ever-changing speeds.

A traditional lunch follows at the seafront desert camp, which is a collection of huts furnished with beach beds and Arabic carpets. Other facilities include gazebos, restrooms and a sunken firepit.

In time, you will drive back to the hotel to freshen up before boarding a traditional wooden dhow for a dinner cruise around Doha Bay. The city will be beautifully illuminated as you pass landmarks such as The Pearl, a manmade island with high-end residential towers, marinas and shops. The dhow will maintain a fairly slow speed that is ideal for sightseeing and snapping photos of the city.

After disembarking, you will return to the hotel for the evening.

    DAY 3

Following a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, you will tour Doha, the capital of Qatar and a city that embraces modernity yet still preserves the nuances of the Arab tradition. The highlights include:

?A tram tour of historical downtown Doha and "the world's smartest and most sustainable fully built city district.“

?Browsing the Souq Waqif, a traditional bazaar with myriad of shops full of merchandise such as ceramics, fabrics, spices, Arab sweets, perfumes, candied fruit and traditional clothing.

?Stopping for Arabic sweets and tea at Souq Waqif and free time for lunch on your own.

?Driving past the gleaming towers of West Bay on the way to the cultural hub Katara for a walking tour of the mosques, amphitheater and street art.

?Visiting The Pearl Qatar, an attraction on a manmade island with resort hotels, exquisite shopping and fine dining.

The city tour also includes visiting the state-of-the-art Education City complex, a collection of university satellite campuses, a mosque and the Qatar National Library.

The Education City Mosque is located in the Minaretein building as a part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s College of Islamic Studies. Designed by Iraqi architect and calligrapher Taha al-Hiti, the mosque’s minarets feature vertical calligraphy that sweeps upward, taking the viewer’s eye heavenward in a contemplation of faith and meaning. The mosque is supported by five pillars, each representing one of Islam’s pillars: Shahada (profession of faith), Salah (prayer), Zakat (giving alms), Sawm (fasting) and Hajj (pilgrimage).

Individuals from all backgrounds are welcome to visit the mosque, which can accommodate as many as 2,800 worshippers in the main prayer hall and the exterior courtyard. There are four streams outdoors that irrigate a garden in the center of the building. The streams represent the four rivers of paradise promised in the Qur’an: water, honey, milk and wine. The complex also houses the Qur’anic Botanic Garden, which contains plants been mentioned in the Holy Qur'an, along with Qatar’s native flora. Designed to reflect Islamic art and architecture, the garden focuses on harmony, maintaining and preserving plant diversity from around the world.

Following the tour of the Education City complex, you will return to the hotel. The remainder of the day will be at your leisure with dinner on your own.

    Day 4

After breakfast at the hotel and check out, you will transfer to the National Museum of Qatar for delightful encounter with Qatar’s past, present and future. The design of the museum resembles the naturally occurring crystal formations known as the desert rose.

Built around Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al-Thani’s original palace and the seat of government for 25 years, the National Museum of Qatar gives voice to Qatar’s heritage and celebrates its future. Exhibitions combine historic objects and contemporary influences, opening up a dialogue around the impact of rapid change. You will have time to visit the museum’s shop before transferring to the cruise terminal to embark the ship.

Land Program Details Step by Step

•The order of sites visited may vary to avoid congestion. Program times are approximate, given here for general reference purposes and subject to change.

Check in is 3:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have the rooms available sooner, this cannot be guaranteed. Should your flight arrive very early in the morning you may wish to book an additional night. You could also store your luggage and start enjoying the facilities of your hotel upon arrival or perhaps take a stroll to see some of the sites close by while you wait for your room to be ready.

Meals will be on your own today.

•Meet and Greet and transfers are arranged for guests arriving on Day 1 of a land program or for extra nights booked through the cruise line and are arranged based on the flight details received by guests at least 14 days before sailing. Guests arriving independently before the program start date will not have a transfer included.

  • This nonstop adventure presents the unrivalled experience of touring thundering Victoria Falls and venturing into Botswana’s first national park for a game drive to view African’s most iconic wildlife.

PLEASE NOTE – This POST-Cruise Program ends in Johannesburg and therefore guests need to fly out of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Special Notes: Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour. Please advise the RSSC Reservations team when you book this program should you have any special dietary restrictions or requirements. Requests will be sent to our local ground operators for review.

    DAY 1

Disembark in Cape Town, meet your guide and transfer to your city-based hotel. En-route you will have an orientation tour. Check in is at 2:00pm and although every effort will be made to have rooms available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. Luggage storage will be available should you wish to head into the city to explore on your own.

Your hotel is located in the bustling Victoria and Alfred Waterfront where you will find a wide array of shopping and dining options. Lunch and dinner are on your own today.

    DAY 2

After breakfast and check out, transfer to the Cape Town airport for a flight to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

As guests may only bring one piece of checked luggage per person, excess luggage (1 piece per person) will be shipped via courier to Johannesburg where you will be re-united with it on Day 5. Make sure to pack accordingly and bring any medications and cruise documents with you.

Upon arriving in Victoria Falls, proceed through Customs and Immigration. You will then be met and transferred to the Victoria Falls Hotel. Note: Visas are required for Zimbabwe and can be purchased at the airport upon arrival.

After check-in, transfer to the Zambezi River and embark on a sunset cruise (shared departure). Depending on the size of the group the boat may either be a covered single level sightseeing boat or a larger boat with multiple levels. Enjoy a beverage from this vantage point whilst watching the sunset and possibly sighting hippos, crocodiles, various birdlife and maybe even an elephant or two along the banks of the river.

Your boat cruise is followed up with dinner back at the hotel.

    DAY 3

After breakfast and check out, transfer to the Victoria Falls Rainforest where you will have a guided walk.

Located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls is the world’s largest curtain of falling water, based on the falls’ one-mile width and height of 360 feet. It’s an amazing spectacle to watch as the Zambezi River roars over the edge of a basalt gorge, forming what locals call Mosi-Oa-Tunya or “the smoke that thunders”. In November 1885, after seeing the falls for the first time, Scottish explorer and Doctor David Livingstone re-named them after Queen Victoria.

A path along the edge of the rainforest provides visitors with an unparalleled series of views of the falls but be prepared to get wet from the tremendous spray!

NOTE: the cobblestone walkways within the rainforest can be slippery if wet and some spots are at a gradient. Proper walking shoes that have a good grip should be worn, and guests should wear appropriate clothing to get wet. Due to the amount of walking and terrain, this program is not suited for guests who have walking difficulty or who utilize a wheelchair or scooter. Walking distance will be 2-4km (1.24 – 2.48 miles).

Continue by road across the Zimbabwe – Botswana border to Chobe Game Lodge.

Chobe Game Lodge is a haven of peace and tranquillity inside the Chobe National Park. A quiet spot on one of the many expansive viewing decks, the private jetty or comfortable lounge on the boardwalk is never far away. Each offers a different perspective on the unique wilderness that surrounds the lodge.

Every one of the elegantly designed guest rooms is air-conditioned, with en-suite bathrooms and a large terrace facing the Chobe River.

Check in, enjoy lunch at the lodge and then some free time to get acquainted with your surroundings.

A bit later in the day, gather in the main lodge for tea and snacks followed by a game drive in Chobe National Park. Safaris are conducted in 4x4 open side vehicles and led by qualified professional guides who will bring you close to hippos, buffalos, puku and other animals that gather on the banks of the Chobe River. Naturally, elephants, lion and leopard are also found in the area.

Return to your lodge thereafter for dinner and overnight.

    DAY 4

After an early-morning wake-up call and coffee and tea in the lobby, you will embark on a morning game drive in 4x4 open-air safari vehicles.

Along with elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo, Chobe is also home to two antelope that aren’t encountered anywhere else in Botswana, the puku and the Chobe bushbuck. Declared a national park in 1967, Chobe was the first one established in Botswana and now covers more than 4,500 square miles of dry savannah, floodplains, and teak woodlands that are ideal animal habitats.

Returning from your morning safari, a full breakfast will be served after which you will have free time to do as you wish at the lodge.

Following lunch, you will embark on another 4x4 safari into the bush and later dinner will be served at the lodge.

    DAY 5

After enjoying one last optional game drive and breakfast, check-out from the lodge and transfer to the Kasane Airport for a flight to Johannesburg.

Upon arrival at Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport, you will be met and assisted through passport control and baggage claim. You will then be escorted your hotel where you will spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Your hotel is located within walking distance of the terminal.

You will be reunited with any luggage that was shipped from Cape Town.

Lunch and dinner are on your own today.

    DAY 6

•The contents and order of the activities in this program are subject to change by the lodge management without prior notice, due to the prevailing weather conditions and movement of dangerous wildlife in the Chobe National Park

•Bring warm clothing, as the evenings and early mornings are chilly.

•The water levels at Victoria Falls are season dependent. ‘Low Water’ runs between August and January and is at its lowest between November and early December. This is the time when there is very little spray and visitors are able to fully appreciate the geological formation of Victoria Falls and the full length and breadth of them.

    Expected Weather:

South Africa’s seasons are the reverse of those in the northern hemisphere. Midwinter is in June and midsummer at hottest temperatures in December and January. The climate varies from region to region but is generally mild throughout the year.

June is typically the coolest month of the year in Victoria Falls with average temperatures between 50°F - 72°F (10°C - 22°C)

In Botswana, the average morning temperature in June is 6°C/42°F. Afternoons will be more pleasant with temperatures around 25°C/78°F. Bring warm extra layers for game drives.

    What to Bring:

Long trousers and warm fleece tops and jackets are required for this time of year. A hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, swimsuit, camera, film and chargers, personal toiletries and anti-malaria prophylaxis are also recommended.

    Currency:

The monetary unit of South Africa is the Rand. All major credit cards are accepted at most establishments, although Visa and Mastercard are the most widely accepted cards.

In Zimbabwe, the unit of currency is the US Dollar.

Credit card payments in Zimbabwe are subject to change on a daily basis. Currently, only Visa cards are widely accepted here so we recommend that you travel with a small amount of US Dollars or SA Rand in cash, in small denominations, to pay for incidental expenses.

    Electricity:

South Africa’s electrical system is 220/230 volts A/C 50 cycles. Most hotels have hair dryers and plug adaptors in the bedrooms however we recommend bringing your own travel adaptor if you are bringing electric devices. Be aware that overnight charging may not be possible where generator use restricts the availability of electricity.

Outlets in Zimbabwe require a three-pronged adapter plug with 3 round prongs

    Luggage:

    CHECKED LUGGAGE

For your economy class internal flights:

*Passengers are permitted to check-in one piece of luggage at a maximum of 23 kg (50 lbs.) and maximum dimension of 158 cm (62 inches) - subject to change by airline

1.Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) - Guests must obtain a Doctor’s Certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry a POC. Further paperwork may be required by the airline. Please advise RSSC of the specifics at least 14 days before sailing.

2.CPAP Machine NOT being used in flight – please advise RSSC right away (pre cruise program) or the Destination Staff on board the ship (post cruise or overland programs) at least 96 hours before the program starts if you will bring a CPAP on the internal flight(s) used in this land program. 3.CPAP Machine to be used during flight – same as above + a doctor’s note is required mentioning the need to use the machine during flight.

*Guests are required to bring with them any details from the manufacturer regarding the CPAP specifications. While most modern CPAP machines are FAA-approved for in-flight use, having a copy of your manufacturer’s FAA-approval status will help to quickly clear any confusion that may arise.

    * Failure to provide the above details in a timely manner may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which Regent Seven Seas Cruises nor our local ground operator will be responsible for.

*Some hotels do not provide distilled water. While we can certainly request this for you, we cannot guarantee that it will be available. If received in a timely manner, requests will be sent on the final manifest that our ground operators and hotels receive. We highly recommend packing your own supply especially on programs that travel to more remote locations in order to avoid not having it. Please keep in mind the rule for liquids in carry-on bags. Many hotels will charge for distilled water. If there is a fee, this will be added to your hotel incidental account to be paid at check-out. Fees will vary from hotel to hotel.

    Documents and Visa Requirements:

This program travels between South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe.

•Citizens of the United States do not require visas for Botswana

•Citizens of the United States and Canada require a visa for Zimbabwe. These can be obtained at the airport when arriving in Zimbabwe. Visas are payable only in cash and are approximately $80 USD per person (subject to change)

•Please note that the above information regarding visas is current and is subject to change should each Government implement new rules and tariffs

•Two consecutive clear or blank pages are required in your passport per entry into South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe therefore you should have at least 6 blank pages

•Passports should also be valid for more than 6 months at the time of travel

Please consult your local South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe embassies for the most up to date visa requirements pertaining to your nationality and in particular for this land program.

The name on your cruise booking, passport and any visas if required, must all be exactly the same for flight ticket purchase for this program otherwise guests may be denied travel by flight. Please ensure that all documents are identical in spelling to the names provided for your cruise reservation including first, middle and last name. Manifests generated by the cruise line must match your travel documents. Guests are responsible to make sure that there are enough pages in their passports for any visas that are required – Minimum two pages for each visa.

Failure to have the required documents ahead of time will result in denial of travel and guests will have to pay for any expenses incurred in order to not proceed with the program.

The above information is subject to change and serves as a guide only. We would like to take this opportunity to remind all of our guests that it is the ultimate and sole responsibility of the guest to ensure they meet the entry requirements for each destination.

If traveling internationally, the countries you are flying to and/ or connecting through may have different document requirements and as such we encourage you to visit the government and airport websites of every country you will be traveling to throughout the journey to familiarize yourself with their requirements for your nationality.

Enjoy an invigorating hike up to the top of Cape Town’s landmark, Table Mountain; paddle with the penguins in Simon’s Town; and explore Cape Point Nature Reserve on foot plus enjoy two full days at leisure to explore the region at your leisure. Perhaps go shark cage diving in Gansbaai, take a 4x4 game drive in Aquila or even cycle through the Cape Winelands!

Due to the nature of this program, it is not available for guests who have mobility restrictions. Guests need to be able to hike distances with inclines and steps and manage a 2-person ocean kayak. Participants must be at least 12 years of age or more.

    DAY 1

Disembark the ship in Cape Town. You will be met and transferred to your hotel, located inside the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront – home to so many restaurants, shops and plenty of entertainment. There really is something for everyone here including boat cruises (ferries and sunset catamaran cruises), the Big Wheel, Two Oceans Aquarium, Zeitz Mocaa (Museum of Contemporary Art) and more.

Hotel check-in is at 2:00pm. Since you will be arriving earlier, you may store your luggage storage at Reception until your room is ready.

The day is at your leisure with all meals on your own.

    DAY 2

Following breakfast at the hotel, meet your hiking guide in the lobby of your hotel take a short transfer to Table Mountain. After a safety briefing and donning your gear, the group will hike up the side of Table Mountain. The starting point of the hike depends on the weather and wind conditions on the day.

The Platteklip Gorge hike is the quickest, easiest and most direct route to the summit of Table Mountain and therefore also the most popular. The approximate 2-mile route follows a well-constructed trail up a deep ravine on the iconic front face of the mountain. The average time to complete the hike is approximately 2-2.5 hours but it depends on your starting point. It is a challenging hike that gets steeper the higher you go. Be prepared for steps, inclines, boulders and little to no shade. Technical skills are not required but this is not recommended for beginner hikers, and it is recommended to drink plenty of fluids along the way.

The lower section leads up beside a stream, reduced to a trickle in summer (November to February), but gushing in winter (June to August). Further up, the gorge narrows between imposing cliffs. The setting gets more dramatic as the sidewalls close in, almost converging at the top and barely allowing access to the summit through a two-meter-wide corridor. The route offers stunning city and harbor views, restricted in the upper section by the sidewalls. Vegetation is fynbos (endemic shrub) with a patch of indigenous Afro-montane forest about a quarter of the way up.

Once you’ve reached the top, take some time to appreciate the magnificent views, savor a cold beverage and then take the cable car down to where your vehicle and driver await your return. Note: There are restrooms at the cable car station.

Transfer to a local restaurant and enjoy a well-deserved lunch followed by free time on Camp’s Bay or Clifton Beach, before returning to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

Note: Guests should wear good and comfortable hiking shoes or boots (non-slip, with grip and good ankle support), hat, sunscreen and bring a small backpack to carry water

    DAY 3

Following breakfast at the hotel, meet your tour guide in the lobby of your hotel and depart for Simon’s Town where your ‘Penguin Paddle’ (kayaking) await you.

The African Penguin Colony at Boulders beach, Simonstown, is one of few land-based Penguin Colonies in South Africa where over 2500 birds are found.

Launch into the cool, clear, sparkling waters of the Atlantic Ocean, feel the spray of the salt-water dripping off the end of your paddle as you paddle your way through the rocky pools and outcrops around Boulders Beach. As the sun warms your shoulders, penguins skim the water below you, diving and dancing in the waves. Using stable, easy to paddle, two-man kayaks, explore the crystal waterways of this fascinating Penguin colony with your kayaking guide.

Please note: Paddling with Penguins involves kayaking on the ocean. Simonstown is a windy area in summer. Paddling into the wind is physically demanding, therefore guests need to be in good physical condition.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in the area before moving to Cape Point Nature Reserve where you can visit both the spot where the two oceans meet and also take an optional walk up to the Cape Point Lighthouse for fantastic photo opportunities of the ocean and the cliffs.

Return to your hotel in the afternoon where a hospitality desk will be set up to help you plan your next day. There are plenty of options to sign up for (at own additional cost) and include but are not limited to Shark Cage Diving in Gansbaai, day safari’s, cycling in the Winelands and much more.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

Note: Guests should wear a bathing suit and cover up and shoes that can get wet (ideally not flip flops), also a hat and sunscreen. Bring a towel with and an extra set of clothing in case you get wet while on the kayaks.

    DAY 4

After breakfast the day is at your leisure. Our hospitality desk team will be available again this morning to help you plan your day.

Alternatively, you may wish to simply enjoy a day at leisure perhaps making a visit to Zeits Mocaa (local art museum), having some retail therapy, hiring a bicycle for a leisurely ride in and around the waterfront and its adjoining areas, visiting the SA Museum or District Six Museum or enjoying high tea at the Mount Nelson to name a few. The choice is yours!

Lunch and dinner are on your own today.

    DAY 5

After breakfast and check-out, you will be taken to the Cape Town International Airport by private transfer. Transfer times will be set up according to the flight details received. In the Eastern Cape, you can expect the average maximum daytime temperature in November to be around 24.3°C (75.74°F). The average minimum temperature goes down to around 14.2°C (57.56°F).

In June, Cape Town experiences the beginning of winter with cool and wet weather, featuring average temperatures ranging from average temperatures ranging from 5°C to 17°C (41°F to 62°F) and increased rainfall. In the Eastern Cape, average daytime temperatures ranging from 7°C to 20°C, and minimal rainfall.

    What to Bring:

Light cotton tops and cotton trousers and shorts in summer and warmer clothing that can be layered in the winter. We recommend safari trousers and warm fleece tops for evenings and cooler days. Also, bring swimwear, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, camera, film and batteries, personal toiletries.

    Currency:

The monetary unit of South Africa is the Rand, divided into cents and abbreviated as R and c. All major credit cards are accepted at most establishments, although Visa and Mastercard are the most widely accepted cards.

    Electricity:

South Africa’s electrical system is 220/230 volts A/C 50 cycles. Most hotels have hair dryers and plug adaptors in the bedrooms. We recommend bringing your own travel adaptor if you have electric devices

    Luggage:

On the flights from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth and vice versa, guests are permitted to check-in 1 piece of luggage at a maximum of 23 kg (50 lbs.) and maximum dimension of 158 cm (62 inches).

Excess luggage (up to 2 pieces of luggage per person) will be stored in Cape Town for the duration of the program and transferred to the hotel where you will be re-united with it on day 3. Please pack accordingly for this and limit the luggage you take on the safari to 1 piece per person.

  • Explore beautiful Cape Town, with so much to offer, including Penguin Beach, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Groot Constantia Wine Estate, Stellenbosch Winelands and Table Mountain with your hotel located in the heart of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront.

    DAY 1

Disembark the ship in Cape Town and meet your guide for an orientation tour of the city and a drive up Kloof Nek, to the saddle between Table Mountain and Lion's Head, en-route to the Lower Cableway Station.

Upon arrival at Lower Table Mountain Road, board a Swiss-engineered rotair cable car, and ascend from the 1,190-foot Valley Station to the 3,477-foot Mountain Station. The journey from the base to the summit takes just under four minutes and offers spectacular views as the floor of the car rotates 360 degrees during the ascent and descent.

From the summit, the natural protected area stretching from Signal Hill to Cape Point has been managed under the custodianship of the National Parks Board. This area is home to one of the highest concentrations of endemic plant and animal species in any area of its size; its impressive 2,285 plant species are greater in quantity than those of the entire U.K. combined.

Following your visit to Table Mountain, re-board your vehicle and transfer to your hotel which is located inside the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront – home to so many restaurants, shops and plenty of entertainment – something for everyone including boat cruises (ferries and sunset catamaran cruises), the Big Wheel, Two Oceans Aquarium, Zeitz Mocaa and more.

Check into your hotel at 2:00pm and spend the remainder of the afternoon and evening at leisure. Any meals are on your own today.

    DAY 2

Following breakfast at the hotel, meet your tour guide in the lobby of your hotel and embark on a full day discovery tour.

Start off with a scenic drive past the seaside suburbs of Camp’s Bay, Clifton and Llundudno and onto Hout Bay. Continue over scenic Chapma’s Peak, providing phenomenal photo opportunities. Then onto Boulders Beach to view the African Penguins in their natural habitat.

Thereafter, continue onto Groot Constantia Wine Estate. Groot Constantia wine farm is testimony of how one man’s love for wine established South Africa’s first wine farm in 1685. In a word, their wines are from rich African soil, crafted to perfection. Furthermore, their heritage stands for growth, life and beauty.

During your visit to Groot Constantia, you may explore the original Cape Dutch Manor House; visit the famed Cloete Cellar (the birthplace of Grand Constance) for a self-guided tour and enjoy a wine and chocolate tasting experience. You will also take home a souvenir branded wine glass.

Enjoy a delicious three course lunch at Jonkershuis at Groot Constantia Wine Estate.

Thereafter, embark on a short transfer to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens – acclaimed as one of the great botanic gardens of the world. Few gardens can match the sheer grandeur of the setting of Kirstenbosch, against the eastern slopes of Cape Town’s Table Mountain.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll through these beautiful gardens. Consider a walk on and over the Centenary Tree Canopy Walkway - a new curved steel and timber bridge that winds and dips its way through and over the trees of the Arboretum. Inspired by a snake skeleton, it is informally called ‘The Boomslang’ (meaning tree snake).

The Walkway takes you from the forest floor into and through the trees and bursts out above the canopy, giving spectacular panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains, Garden and Cape Flats.

Return to your hotel in the late afternoon. Spend the evening at leisure. Dinner is on your own today.

    DAY 3

Following breakfast at the hotel, meet your tour guide in the lobby of your hotel and embark on a full day Winelands discovery tour.

Take a scenic drive to JC Le Roux where the tasting room at the House of J.C. Le Roux offers a range of tastings and specially crafted parings for the most sophisticated of palates - both sweet and dry. Here you will enjoy a cheesecake and sparkling wine pairing.

Next, take a short drive to Muratie Wine Estate located on steep slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain. Here time stands still, and centuries of fascinating stories live on. Immerse yourself in the tastes, the sights, the sounds and the warm welcome of a truly authentic Cape wine farm.

Located in the Knorhoek Valley north of Stellenbosch, Muratie dates back to 1685 when it was granted by Simon van der Stel, then Governor of the Cape of Good Hope, to German soldier Laurens Campher. Through the centuries Muratie, one of the oldest wine estates in South Africa, had several other colourful owners and is currently under the stewardship of the Melck family, who are deeply rooted here.

Their guiding philosophy is to preserve this rich history and cultural heritage and share it with wine lovers from around the world. Equally important, is to build a future legacy of dedication to excellence.

Here you will enjoy estate wines (a variety of white and red wine) followed by a delicious lunch.

Thereafter enjoy free time in the town of Stellenbosch, including an optional visit to Stellenbosch Museum (entry fee). The Stellenbosch Village Museum currently comprises of four houses of historical interest and their gardens.

Each of these beautiful homes represents a different period in the architectural development of Stellenbosch. The houses, their interiors and their gardens have been wonderfully restored, furnished, planted and decorated to illustrate the particular style and taste of the time.

Return to your hotel in the late afternoon. Spend the evening at leisure. Dinner is on your own this evening.

    DAY 4

Enjoy breakfast before checking out and transferring to the Cape Town International Airport by private transfer. DAY 1

Disembark in Cape Town and meet your guide for a tour and transfer to your hotel. En-route, visit Table Mountain, the city’s most celebrated landmark!

They form a sort of amphitheater that encloses the city center and some of the older suburbs. Other earlier suburbs are on either side of the chain of mountains, which run like a spine through the Cape Peninsula, from Table Mountain to Cape Point – the cape from which Cape Town gets its name.

From the summit, the natural protected area stretching from Signal Hill to Cape Point has been managed under the custodianship of the National Parks Board. This area has one of the highest concentrations of endemic plant and animal species in any area of its size, containing a staggering 2 285 plant species – more than the entire U.K.

Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines on internal flights per airline regulations (subject to change as each airline has their own regulations)

1.Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) - Guests must obtain a Doctor’s Certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry a POC. Further paperwork may be required by the airline. Please advise RSSC of the specifics at least 14 days before sailing.

2.CPAP Machine NOT being used in flight – please advise RSSC at least 95 days before the program starts if you will bring a CPAP on the internal flight(s) used in this land program. Please supply the make, model and battery type.

  • Embark on a 2-day safari at Lalibela Game reserve. Covering 10,500 hectares, this malaria-free Eastern Cape game reserve comprises 5 different biomes and a dense population of African wildlife. Big game sightings occur regularly and other game such as zebra, giraffe, hippo, cheetah and hyena are abundant.

This program is designed for a small group of family or friends travelling together. Lalibela Mills Manor can accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 rooms. The cost of the program will be invoiced to one booking.

    DAY 1 – June 8, 2026

Disembark the ship in Port Elizabeth and meet a local representative who will transfer you to the Lalibela Private Game Reserve. Your journey will take approximately 1.5 hours.

Mills Manor is an exclusive-use home style villa offering an idyllic and private safari getaway for families and small groups. The villa has a relaxed home-away-from-home ambience and is staffed with a private safari guide and vehicle, chef and service staff. The gables, high ceilings, large rooms and wide wrap-around veranda are typical of the Edwardian farmhouses of the region, built at a time when high wool prices and the ostrich feather boom allowed farmers to build stately family homes.

The villa is set on a hill overlooking a waterhole, which means that game viewing continues even after game drives. The Big Five and other game species are free roaming throughout Lalibela and the waterhole at Mills Manor attracts regular visits from animals.

On arrival at Lalibela Mills Manor, check in and enjoy lunch before heading out on a sunset safari.

Facilities within the villa include a well-stocked bar, spacious lounge and gracious dining room. Outside there is a swimming pool and sun deck, a large fire pit and barbeque area where outside fire lit dinners can be served under the African sky. The wide, shady veranda offers cool respite from the sun and a place to relax between activities. With 5 bedrooms (3 king rooms and 2 king/twin rooms), Mills Manor can accommodate a maximum of 10 guests. All rooms are air-conditioned and have wide stack doors opening out onto private verandas in indigenous gardens with valley views beyond. Rooms will not be assigned but can be allocated amongst yourselves when you arrive.

Game drives are conducted in 4-wheel drive open vehicles and after dark spotlights are used, giving you the opportunity to view nocturnal creatures and carnivores on the hunt. Sundowners and light snacks will also be served in a clearing in the bush during sunset game drives.

    DAY 2 - June 9, 2026

As the sun rises, enjoy another game drive and notice how animal behavior differs in the daylight from the night.

Return to the lodge for breakfast before checking out and driving back to Port Elizabeth where you will re-board the ship.
