Behold some of South Africa’s most majestic animals on spectacular sunset and sunrise game drives in the malaria-free Pumba Private Game Reserve, a wonderland of more than 16,000 acres of privately-owned bush. The reserve is home to Africa’s Big Five as well as rare white lion, hippo, hyena, cheetah, giraffes, various antelope and more than 300 bird species.
DAY 1
Upon disembarkation in Port Elizabeth, you will be met by an English-speaking driver-guide who will accompany you on your road transfer to Pumba Private Game Reserve. The drive time is approximately 1.5 hours.
Pumba Private Game Reserve, located in the heart of the Eastern Cape’s malaria-free game viewing region, overlooks Lake Kariega and offers stunning views of the wilderness and water from almost every point.
The luxurious, glass enclosed thatched Msenge Chalets of Bush Lodge allow you to become one with nature. Each one has its own private deck with plunge pool and outdoor shower and views of a watering hole on the floodplain. Stunning mountain views complete this tranquil setting. Dreamy en-suite bathrooms with separate shower and bath include twin vanities and heated towel rails.
After lunch and some free time to settle in and freshen up, rejoin at the main lodge and embark on your afternoon open 4x4 vehicle game drive. Qualified game rangers will guide you through the bush, in search of the elusive ‘Big 5’ and other wildlife. Enjoy drinks and snacks in the bush at sundown. After dark, spotlights are used.
Return to the lodge for dinner.
DAY 2
Following an early morning wake-up call, enjoy a sunrise game drive. In the cool of the morning, as the sun rises, animal behavior is different to sunset.
Return to the lodge for breakfast and then gather your belongings, complete check out formalities and bid the staff farewell. You will be met for a road transfer back to Port Elizabeth harbor where you will re-board the ship.

At this time of the year, you can expect the temperatures at Pumba to fall between 20 - 27 degrees Celsius (68-80 degrees Fahrenheit). But it can be cooler in the morning and evenings, so a sweater or jacket is recommended for the early morning and evening game drives.
What to Bring:
Khaki, brown, white and beige-colored clothing. No bright colors. Light cotton tops and cotton trousers and shorts in summer. Safari trousers and warm fleece tops for evenings and cooler days, swimwear, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, camera, film and batteries, personal toiletries.
Luggage information:
We recommend bringing on small overnight bag for this short program
