The panoramic drive there will set the stage for your immersion into traditional Greek life as you will pass landmarks such as Hadrian’s Arch and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. As an introduction to Monastiraki, you will pause to snap photos at its namesake square in the shadow of the iconic Acropolis. Monastiraki means “small monastery,” a reference to the one built there in Ottoman times, the remains of which still exist. After settling in at Savvas tavern, you will be treated to a lunch of traditional Greek dishes and a spectacular view of the Acropolis.
