概要
Enjoy an enlightening transit of the Corinth Canal on the way to an olive farm and a winery to sample their distinctive products. Unlike most canals, the Corinth was dug at sea level and has no locks. It is remarkably narrow with sloping sides that rise about 170 feet. During the transit, you may hear about early attempts to construct a canal at this location, dating all the way back to Nero’s reign in the 1st century. A drive inland will bring you to the family-operated Markellos olive farm, where you will tour the groves and mill that processes the extra virgin olive oil. Special glasses will be used for the tasting, which will reveal the oil’s unique characteristics, especially its aroma and spiciness. Another tour and tasting follows at a winery near the village of Nemea. The dominant grape is the native Agiorgitiko, which typically produces dry red wines.
