概要
See some of the most iconic landmarks in Athens from several different vantage points, the most spectacular being from atop Lycabettus Hill. While driving through Athens, you can expect to pass ancient sites such as the Temple of Olympia Zeus and the horseshoe-shaped Panathenaic Stadium, where the first modern Olympics were held. More recent but no less magnificent attractions include the Parliament, National Library of Greece and National Academy, all built during the 19th century. For the ultimate view of the Acropolis and the Parthenon, you will pause at a lookout well above them. Lycabettus Hill is even higher and offers the most sweeping views of Athens, the suburbs and the sea beyond. A funicular-like train will bring you to the summit where you can take in the topography and see how Athens blankets the surrounding hills. The name Lycabettus is thought to refer to the wolves that lived there in ancient times.
