You will first see Utah Beach where more than 20,000 troops landed on D-Day. For a more comprehensive understanding of this watershed invasion, you will browse the Utah Beach D-Day Museum – whose exhibits chronologically recount the story of D-Day – and the Utah Beach Monument, a red granite obelisk that commemorates the U.S. troops. Continuing on to Pointe du Hoc, you will view the cliffs overlooking the English Channel that American soldiers climbed while suffering heavy losses to disarm a German stronghold. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial at Omaha Beach. This is the final resting place of nearly 9,400 soldiers who died during the Normandy campaign. Traveling through the sea of marble crosses and Stars of David is a deeply moving experience.
