Use 3-D technology to see the excavated ruins at Lindos as they appeared in ancient times and then sample an inspired selection of Greek wines. The archaeological site occupies the acropolis that crowns the beautiful town of whitewashed “sugar-cube” buildings. Highlights include the Doric Temple of Athena, an ancient walled fortress and the Byzantine Church of St. John. To enhance your understanding of the ruins, you will be given an electronic tablet with augmented-reality software. Simply point the tablet’s camera at the ruins, and the buildings will appear on the screen in 3D, just as they looked in ancient times. Farther inland, you will find the Triantafyllou winery, where the resident oenologist will explain how the grapes are carefully cultivated and the characteristics of the resulting wines. During the tasting, you might sample a semi-sweet white wine made from Muscat of Alexandria grapes and a rich, fruity red that showcases the local Mandilaria grape.
