Learn the wine-making process step-by-step at the Can Macia estate and then use your newfound knowledge to create your own bottle of wine. The Bohigas family has been growing grapes and producing wines at the estate since the 13th century, so you can be assured that they have a deep understanding of the production process. During the enlightening tour of the property and vineyards, you will learn about the winery’s ideal terroir and see the underground stone cellar where the Spanish sparkling wine known as cava is aged. A wine technician will then use traditional means to demonstrate how the natural sediment is removed from the bottled cava through a technique known as degorgement. It takes a certain skill as the cava is under pressure in the bottle. Following a tasting of the cava and an explanation of its characteristics, you will make your own blend of wine using varietals grown on the Can Macia estate.
