Enjoy a scenic drive though Scotland’s fabled glen, mountain and loch country – a landscape steeped in legend and immense natural beauty. All the elements of classic Scotland are on the agenda, with the “Queen of Scottish lakes” – Loch Lomond – as its centerpiece. We’ll trace the banks of the River Clyde, where great wooden ships once began their voyages to sea. With views of Glasgow in the distance, we’ll voyage northward toward Helensburgh for a spin along its timeless seaside waterfront. Next come enticing vistas across Gare Loch’s waters, with overlapping hills and distant peaks as their backdrop. Eventually, Loch Lomond comes into view, its broad southern end five miles wide and studded with small islands sparkle like emeralds against its blue waters and rugged crags. Journeying further, the loch steadily narrows until tree-clad mountains line both shores, soaring skywards to create a fjord-lie atmosphere. Picturesque villages lie nestled the lake; we’ll stop for you to enjoy an independent stroll through perhaps the prettiest of them all – the charming hamlet of Luss. Rose-covered cottages line the narrow lanes here and most the village is vehicle-free, with its gift shops well-stocked and its cafes offering homemade shortbread and scones, inviting.
