Scottish cuisine may not get the recognition of other European cuisines, but you will definitely gain a deeper appreciation of it after joining this hands-on master cooking class. As you will discover, Scottish cuisine goes far beyond the national dish of haggis. A master chef at a renowned cooking school will lead the instruction and demonstrate step-by-step how to prepare a variety of dishes using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Summer fruits and vegetables run the gamut from greengages to broad beans to aubergines. Loganberries and juniper berries are also abundant during the summer season. If seafood is on the menu, the chef may show you the secrets to preparing the sardine-like pilchards and heart-shaped cockles, which are low-calorie but high in Omega-3s. Knowing the class will whet your appetite, you will be served a two-course lunch that has been previously prepared, with a glass of wine as accompaniment. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy.
