Make the shore excursion of a lifetime by visiting your familial hometown with an Ancestral Home Visit. You will be guided all the way by an expert genealogist who has taken the time to thoroughly research your family history. Depending on the research results, visits could include a visit to an ancestral house, farm, church or synagogue, school, local cemetery, local museum, workplace, or town hall. Eligible ports are Holyhead, Liverpool, Kilybegs, Lerwick, Invergordon, Newhaven (Edinburgh), and Newcastle (Tyne). Program includes a complimentary DNA kit and 10 hours of research time by an AncestryProGenealogist.

Helpful Hints

  • The price for an Ancestral Home Visit is $3,699 for a half day tour (4 hours) in a private car for up to 2 guests. A supplemental fee applies for full day tours (8 hours) and those requiring a larger vehicle for parties greater than 2 people. If preliminary work by AncestryProGenealogists® shows that there are no ancestors in the ports on the itinerary, guests can cancel the Ancestral Home Visit up to 1 week prior and will receive a refund of the tour fare minus the genealogy research done by AncestryProGenealogists at a value of $1,500. If you need to cancel the visit, you will still receive from AncestryProGenealogists the research summary and historical documents. You will also be eligible for a complimentary 1-hour session with the AncestryProGenealogists during your cruise to review their findings.
