概要
Explore a magnificent 12th-century castle that was the seat of the Talbot family and dine at a traditional tavern, parts of which are more 500 years old. King Henry II gave Richard Talbot the lands at Malahide for his service to the crown in 1185, and they remained in the family until 1975. While touring Malahide Castle, which is decorated with extraordinary period furnishings, you will hear the saga of the Talbots, behold the intricately carved panels of the Oak Room and view the museum-worthy Jacobite portraits in the medieval Great Hall. Like all legendary castles, this one is supposedly haunted, too. The grounds are just as spectacular and manicured to a fare-thee-well, especially the exotic flora in the walled garden. More history awaits you at Abbey Tavern, a restaurant and pub in an elegant 16th-century building in the seaside village of Howth. It is an ideal setting to enjoy a traditional Irish meal.
