Explore the historical character of Dublin through attractions that reflect how the city has changed over time. While driving through the city center, you will pass beautiful 18th-century Georgian mansions, landmarks such as The Guinness Storehouse and the General Post Office. In time, you will pause for photos of the exterior of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, the largest church in Ireland. It was constructed in the 13th century on a site where Saint Patrick supposedly baptized converts. You will next visit Trinity College, which Queen Elizabeth I founded in 1592. Oscar Wilde and Samuel Beckett are alumni, but the college is better known for the Book of Kells in its library. You will view this priceless, hand-illuminated manuscript of the Gospels, which dates to the 9th century. Afterwards, you will explore Grafton Street, a narrow winding road lined with boutiques, cafés and architecturally rich townhouses. Free time follows, during which you might shop and grab a snack.
