Enjoy an inspiring visit to one of the world’s top gastronomic destinations, accompanied by your Chef Instructor from the Culinary Arts Kitchen. On this Gourmet Explorer Tour, you’ll have exclusive access to often-photographed kitchen and herb gardens, wander about a free-range poultry and dairy farm, and sit for a sumptuous lunch at ivy-covered Ballymaloe House. Departing from Cobh pier, your coach will cross County Cork’s rich farmland and river valleys to the hamlet of Shanagarry, home to Chef Darina Allen’s esteemed Ballymaloe Cookery School and culinary estate. You can expect to walk along a wildflower meadow, past robust vegetable crops and through a one-acre greenhouse that protects the most delicate plants. A short hop by coach ride brings you to Ballymaloe House proper, the elegant mansion and acclaimed dining venue that continue to win awards from around the world as the best in modern Irish hospitality and cuisine. Helpful Hints

  • Wear weather-appropriate clothing; include a light raincoat or umbrella.
  • Flat, comfortable, non-slip walking shoes are recommended.
  • Bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen as needed.
  • This exclusive excursion includes some 90 minutes of moderate-to-strenuous walking, particularly in the gardens which include some natural and uneven surfaces and slight inclines. The tour is not recommended for wheelchair guests, and those with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability before participating. Participants must be at least 21 years of age to be served alcoholic beverages. This experience is limited, those wishing to participate should book early.
