Visit some of the most beloved destinations in southern Ireland, including Blarney Castle, where you will discover that there’s more to the pilgrimage site than the famed Blarney Stone. You might also see the dungeon beneath the tower house, the Witch’s Kitchen and the various gardens that surround the castle. Of particular note are the fern garden, where some of the species tower more than 15 feet high, and the poison garden, an assemblage of toxic plants ranging from wolfsbane to mandrake, whose taproot was used as a painkiller in ancient times. Nearby, you will find the Blarney Woolen Mills, a collection of Irish heritage shops that now occupies one of the country’s oldest woolen mills. You will then proceed to the former fishing village of Kinsale. After the guide leads you through the narrow winding streets and past the brightly painted shops, you will enjoy free time to explore further.
