This non-guided full day tour is the perfect option for independent-minded travelers who relish the adventure of exploring at their own pace and with their own agenda. Leaving Zeebrugge pier by coach with your escort, you’ll arrive near the entrance of the Old City in Bruges in about 30 minutes. Once in the city center, you’ll have about 6 hours to do, see and savor whatever most captures your imagination. While this is a self-directed excursion, your escort will be available for a time to equip you with a city map and answer questions about how best to spend your day in Bruges. Keep in mind that museum and attraction hours vary by day and season, and that meal or admission costs incurred during this visit are your responsibility. At the appointed time and location, you’ll rejoin your coach for the return transfer to Zeebrugge. Plan this step wisely: those who run late for pickup must then make their own way back to the ship, at their own expense.

Helpful Hints

  • Wear weather-appropriate clothing; include a light raincoat and umbrella as lowlands weather can change rapidly.
  • Flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
  • Bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen as needed.
  • Coach travel time to and from Bruges is approximately 30 minutes each way. There is a 20-minute walk on cobblestone surfaces from the coach parking area to the city center. Additional walking is at guests’ discretion. No guide services are included, only transportation to and from Bruges. An official escort will be on the coach and will provide city maps and limited information about places to visit while in Bruges. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible chair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have an able-bodied companion to assist them. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina before participating. On Sundays, only souvenir shops are open. For calls when the ship is in port for only 8 hours, this tour duration will be shortened by one hour. Since local currency may be needed, we suggest bringing along some Euros or visiting a bank ATM on arrival.
