Board your coach and drive approximately one hour through the Flemish countryside to the medieval city of Ghent. Upon arrival, you will board a canal boat for an entertaining and thorough exploration of the city.

As you cruise through the historic city, you'll see highlights such as the Chinese Teahouses, Pharmacodynamics Institute, Bijloke, Palace of Justice, Old Guildhalls, Castle of the Counts, Fish Market, 13th-century monasteries, and the ancient port of Ghent, along with its mercantile houses.

The canal boat will stop in the center of Ghent, where you will have some free time to explore on your own. Afterwards, you will return back to the ship.

Helpful Hints

  • Wear weather-appropriate clothing; include a light raincoat and umbrella as lowlands weather can change rapidly.
  • Flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
  • Bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen as needed.
  • ご注意：Walking on this tour is mainly at the guests' discretion during free time. Guests must be able to negotiate the steps into and out of the canal boat with limited assistance. There are cobblestone streets and uneven surfaces in Ghent. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and those with mobility concerns are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Weather appropriate clothing, adequate sun protection and flat comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
