Stride into Bergen’s spectacular fjord-and-mountain landscape on a picturesque Mount Floyen funicular ride and guided trail hike up to its summit. This on-foot adventure sets out from the pier as you and your seasoned guide head to the Floybanen Funicular base station. Along the way, you’ll pass landmarks like Bergenhus Fortress, historic Bryggen and the Hanseatic Pier, and the ancient fish and flower market. Once aboard the funicular, your altitude (and attitude) will quickly begin to elevate. Eight scenic minutes later and 1,000 feet up Mount Floyen, you’ll disembark to magnificent views and photo opportunities of surrounding Bergen. But you’re just getting started. Next comes a bracing 45-minute hike toward Skomakerdiket Lake and the mountain’s true peak at 1,870 feet. From this even higher vantage point, the views are that much more awesome. You’ll have some time to rest and savor the scenery before descending back down to the funicular landing and the ride down to the mountain’s base. Once back at fjord level, though with your spirits still no doubt soaring, you’ll be escorted back to the pier and the conclusion of your Norwegian hiking adventure.
