Spend the day discovering Geirangerfjord’s incredible natural attractions and surrounding landscape. Not only is this 9-mile fjord one Norway’s most beautiful but its steep, towering mountainsides laced with waterfalls make the setting unique in all the world. You’ll take in Geiranger village’s sights and ascend to the heights along a dramatic hairpin road to survey this wonderland from atop Eagle’s Bend viewpoint. At Flydal Gorge, you’ll discover even more superb fjord views – including of your ship looking like a toy boat from this height. But a breathtaking journey to the 4,900-foot summit of Mount Dalsnibba will raise the bar higher still. Circling icy Djupvatn Lake, you’ll arrive in Grotli ready to stretch your legs and enjoy the relaxed lunch that awaits you there. Some of the afternoon’s highlights include a stop at Tystigen summer ski center and a drive along wonderfully-turquoise Stryn Lake and the shore of the Nordfjord toward Europe’s deepest freshwater lake, Hornindal. Ascending once again, you’ll cross into the Møre & Romsdal valley region, passing atmospheric chalets en route to the quaint village of Hellesylt – where author Henrik Ibsen was inspired to write Peer Gynt, and where your repositioned ship now lies at anchor, patiently awaiting your return.
