Journey across the fjords to lofty Trollstigen for a thrilling drive down Norway’s most dramatic mountain road, the multi-hairpin Troll’s Road. This is a true once-in-a-lifetime road trip you’ll share tales and snapshots of for years to come. The excursion’s initial hours are simply scenic as the coach makes its way from Alesund, rounding Stordal Bay, crossing fertile Valldal Valley and ascending though increasingly stunning scenery to a lunch stop half a mile up in Trollstigen. Nourished with classic Norwegian fare including cream with lingonberries, it’s time to fasten your seatbelts for the day’s main attraction: descent down the daring hairpins and switchbacks of the 1939 roadbuilding masterwork nicknamed the Troll’s Ladder. Once in the lower valley, with your heartrate slowly returning to normal, the coach will bring you face to face with a majestic waterfall and the über-sheer Troll Wall – Europe’s highest perpendicular rock face. The return route to Alesund brings you past a series of quaint villages along the Romsdalsfjord. No hairpin turns required.
