This enjoyable tour will take you to Christiansborg Palace and some outside strolling through world-famous Tivoli Gardens. Copenhagen has been the Denmark’s Royal city for many centuries – and has accumulated more than its share of castles, palaces and Crown Jewels during that span. The Palace was built by Bishop Absalon in 1167. Christiansborg is the city’s first fortress and was once the home of the Royal Family. You will visit the Royal Reception rooms, used by the Danish Queen when she receives foreign ambassadors and visiting heads of state. Beautiful tapestries are displayed in the Great Hall. These French tapestries took ten years to weave and were given to the Queen as a gift for her 50th birthday.

Drive through the heart of Copenhagen, seeing the Royal Theatre and Town Hall Square, on your way to world-famous Tivoli Gardens, the fairytale gardens and theme park which opened its gates in 1843. There will be time provided here to stroll through the park and admire the romantic lakes, pavilions, flower decorations and vivid life of the Danes.

Helpful Hints

  • Wear weather-appropriate clothing; include a light raincoat or umbrella.
  • Flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
  • Bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen as needed.
  • Should Christiansborg Palace be closed, due to official functions or state visits, you will visit Rosenborg Castle instead. Tour involves approximately 90 minutes of moderate walking/standing and a considerable number of steps to negotiate at the palace (approximately 90). This tour is not available to wheelchair guests and is not recommended for those guests with mobility concerns. Flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested. Camera and video photography are not permitted in the palace as well as handbags, camera bags, jackets, umbrellas and/or backpacks. The tour price only includes the entrance fee to Tivoli Gardens and does not include any rides or special attractions. Guests electing to extend their stay at Tivoli will need to find their own transportation back to the ship, at their own expense.
