Delve into the history of Stockholm by browsing a museum that celebrates Sweden’s maritime importance and the Royal Palace, home to the royal family and five museums. On the initial drive through the capital city, the guide will point out city hall, where the prestigious Nobel prizes are awarded. Now an icon, the three-spired building was constructed with more than eight million bricks. Afterwards, at the Vasa Museum, you will see the warship Vasa, its namesake. It languished at the bottom of the bay for 333 years before being salvaged almost fully intact. You may also browse exhibits that showcase the shipyard that built the now-preserved vessel, the challenges of life on board and the invaluable role women played in the ship’s construction. Your last stop will be the Royal Armory museum within the Italian Baroque-style Royal Palace. Armor, coronation carriages and coaches from the Royal Stables are among the items on display.
