This scenic, full-day tour has been specially designed for guests who prefer a limited guided tour, and free time to explore Rome at their leisure.

Depart the pier for the scenic drive through the Etruscan countryside, and on to Rome. En route, you will receive a map of Rome with all the most interesting sights highlighted. Upon arrival at the drop-off point, you will be provided with details regarding the time of departure for the guided portion of the tour. You will have approximately three hours for independent sightseeing and lunch before rejoining your guide for the remainder of the tour and returning to the ship in Civitavecchia.

The guided visits include St. Peter's Basilica and the Colosseum. St. Peter's Basilica is one of the highlights of the Vatican City, and Christendom's most significant church. Inside, you will have an opportunity to view Michelangelo's Pietà and the 85-foot-high Bernini pulpit.

Next, you will re-board your coach for the drive to the Colosseum, one of ancient Rome's most important monuments.

Following your visit, you will walk back to the parking area and re-board your coach for the return drive to Civitavecchia.

Please note: Lunch is not included on this tour. Guests are required to wear conservative attire covering the shoulders and knees in anticipation of a visit inside St. Peter's Basilica. There are photography restrictions on this tour. The guided portion of the tour or the order of sightseeing in the city may be altered at the guide's discretion depending on local conditions; however, all places of interest will be seen. Should a mass be taking place inside the Basilica, the guides will brief you outside and guests will enter the Basilica individually. Please be aware that St. Peter's Basilica can close at any given time for security reasons. There may be restoration work in progress at various venues in Rome. Please advise the guide if you plan to return on your own to the pier. Parking restrictions in Rome require an approximate ten-minute walk to reach the Colosseum, and to rejoin the coach. This tour is not recommended for guests with limited mobility or guests who utilize a wheelchair. Guests will have approximately 3 hours of free time for shopping in the morning. The visit to the sites will take place in the afternoon while the shops are closed for siesta.

To ensure that your shoreside experiences are as convenient and enjoyable as possible, we are delighted to offer a complimentary shuttle between your ship and the city center in every port where the ship is not docked within walking distance of the city center. This service runs continuously, aligning perfectly with your ship’s in-port schedule. Best of all, there’s no need to reserve your seat in advance. Simply make your way to the designated stop to board your shuttle, and you’ll be whisked away to the heart of the city. Additional information and schedules can be obtained by visiting the onboard Destination Services Desk during your voyage.
